Abstract
Building upon the simple view of reading, this study investigates how listening comprehension subcomponents (vocabulary, morphology, syntax) affect reading comprehension in Arabic, Hebrew, and English. Focusing on 9 to 13-year-old typical and dyslexic learners, it examines the individual and combined roles of these subcomponents in second (Hebrew) and third (English) language contexts Through tasks assessing vocabulary, morphological awareness, and syntactic knowledge, the study highlights the significant contributions of these subcomponents to reading comprehension. A notable finding is the strong link between vocabulary and morphological awareness, especially in English. These insights provide valuable implications for educational strategies in multilingual environments.
