Guidelines for Authors

1. General Information

 

American Journal of Mental Health Research (AJMHR) is a peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality research, reviews, clinical studies, and case reports in mental health, psychiatry, psychology, behavioral sciences, and related healthcare disciplines.

 

All submissions must be:

  • Original and unpublished
  • Not under consideration elsewhere
  • Written in clear and professional English

2. Types of Manuscripts

 

The journal accepts the following categories:

  • Original Research Articles (3000–6000 words)
  • Review Articles (4000–8000 words)
  • Case Reports / Case Studies (1500–3000 words)
  • Short Communications (1000–2000 words)
  • Editorials and Commentaries

3. Manuscript Preparation

 

Structure of Manuscript

Authors should organize their manuscript in the following order:

  • Title Page
  • Abstract and Keywords
  • Main Text
  • Acknowledgments
  • Conflict of Interest Statement
  • References
  • Tables and Figures

Title Page

 

The title page must include:

  • Full title of the manuscript
  • Author names and affiliations
  • Corresponding author details (email, phone, address)
  • Running title (short title)

Abstract and Keywords

 

  • Maximum 300 words
  • Must include: background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusion
  • Provide 3–5 keywords

4. Manuscript Formatting

 

  • Use clear headings and subheadings
  • References should follow Vancouver style
  • Tables and figures must be numbered and cited in order
  • Use standard abbreviations and define them at first use

 


5. Ethical Considerations

 

  • Authors must ensure originality and avoid plagiarism
  • Proper consent must be obtained for patient-related data
  • Any conflicts of interest must be clearly disclosed

6. Submission Process

 

  • Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal submission system or via email
  • A cover letter must be included stating:
    • Originality of the work
    • Type of article
    • Confirmation that the manuscript is not submitted elsewhere

7. Peer Review Process

 

All submissions undergo a rigorous peer-review process:

  • Initial editorial screening
  • Review by subject experts
  • Revision (if required)
  • Final decision by the editorial team

8. Copyright and Licensing

 

  • Authors retain copyright of their work
  • The journal may publish under open-access terms
  • Proper citation is required for reuse
