Josefa Bell Castillo*, Harold Enmanuel Leon Barrera, Janeth Higuera Gudiño, Jorge Rondòn Labrada, María de Jesus George Bell, Wilberto George Carrión
Abstract:
Background: Chronic degenerative diseases compromise ocular health, increasing the need for multidisciplinary clinical care and highlighting the diagnostic value of retinal fluorescein angiography as an advanced ophthalmological procedure. This study aimed to describe the clinical-epidemiological approach to patients with chronic degenerative diseases who underwent retinal fluorescein angiography. Methods: An observational, descriptive, and retrospective study was conducted in a sample of 78 patients withchronic degenerative diseases who underwent retinal fluorescein angiography at an ophthalmological Clinic inMexico City between January 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025. Variables were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages, comparison of proportions, and validation of results. Results: female patients predominated (65.38%) with the 51-60 year age group being the most represented. The most frequent comorbidities were diabetes mellitus and systemic arterial hypertension, associated withthree ophthalmological diagnoses. Stage 2 hypertension was identified in 26.92% of participants. Overweightwas the most prevalent risk factor (47.43%), and capillary glucose levels between 131 mg/dL and 179 mg/dLwere observed most frequently. Conclusions: The clinical-epidemiological approach to patients with chronic degenerative diseases undergoingretinal fluorescein angiography demonstrates the importance of multidisciplinary medical care in patients withmultiple comorbidities and metabolic síndrome. Adequate control of systemic diseases and associated riskfactors may contribute to reducing ocular complications and improving patient outcomes.

Anti angiogenic potential of Ajwa dates extract as a new novel for modulation of endothelial signaling pathways
MANAL Mohamed Helmy Nabo
Abstract:
The use of natural substances for prevention of neogenesis is a challenge and will be an advance in the vascular medicine. An example of abnormal vascular formation is infantile hemangioma. Infantile hemangioma affect 4–10% of infants and affecting females more frequently than males (1,2). Medical treatment with propranolol is commonly used for regression in the size of hemangioma. However, many side unwanted effects as hypotension and bradycardia are commonly seen. This new challenge for usage of ajwa dates extract is effective in case of small and non deep sited hemangioma. This is beacause of the substances of Ajwa dates that are highly rich in antinfilamatory and antioxident substances. Another substances in Ajwa dates have the properties of modulation and down regulation of hemangioma that will be discussed and will be clear. Ajwa dates are rich in highly antioxidant and anti inflammatory substances as gallic acid and caffeic acid. The other substances as quercetin and ferulic acid are helpful for vascular protection and reduce the oxidative stress on the blood vesseles. Another important component for antimicrobal effect of Ajwa dates is the p -coumaric acid.
